Location Description

Houghton Graves Park is a 3 acre 'pocket park' at the center of the village on Orr's Island. The entrance path runs past a cattail marsh to several paths leading to two picnic tables and down to the shore of Beal's Cove.  The picnic area at the south end of the park offers a lovely view to the north of Beal's Cove and Rat Island.  The northerly picnic table looks down through trees to the shore of the cove.  Beal's Cove flats out at low tide, but offers good swimming as the tide flows in over the sun-warmed flats.  On misty mornings, the shore of the cove can be a mysterious place.
