This route is has tall 2X4 markers painted red on the tops to help a visitor follow the trail. It is moderately strenuous with some steep grades. This trail also connects with the Fresh Pond Trail (also listed as a Healthy Maine Walks Trail). Bathroom facilities are located at the Goose Falls area and at park headquarters. Holbrook Island Sanctuary will mail out an information package if contacted by phone, e-mail, or letter.

Holbrook Island Sanctuary is in the town of Brooksville on the Blue Hill Peninsula. There are brown signs from route 176 indicating directions to the sanctuary. Once in the sanctuary, a map can be picked up at any trailhead or at park headquarters.

Walking directions for following the route:
Trail begins at parking area. Trail is well marked with red blazes and tall markers. It is a hike through woods and old homestead fields.
