How to Follow the Route:
Walking directions for following the route:
Start at Giant ice cream cone sign in the village center. Walk downhill to Oak St. Cross Main St. on the pedestrian crosswalk. Turn right (downhill) on sidewalk. Turn left into what looks like a private driveway, and walk to the far end of the parking lot. Descend off parking area down to the River Trail. Follow the trail about 0.2 mile to Brownie's Park. Have a picnic by the water. Turn left and walk up hill on the path. (Note: for ADA accessible and plowed winter access take the alternate route from the ice cream cone sign as follows. Go left from the parking lot up the Main St. hill to the first traffic light. Cross Main St. to Bennoch Rd. Cross Bennoch Road to the Post Office side. Walk on Bennoch Road up the river to Brownie's Park at the intersection of Bennoch Rd. and Noyes Drive. Turn left and follow remainder of regular directions.)At the top of the hill path in Brownie's Park the path comes out on Bennoch Rd. where it intersects with Noyes Drive. Carefully cross Bennoch Rd and proceed up Noyes Dr. to where it intersects with Forest Ave. Turn right on Forest Ave. and walk a very short way to the intersection with Mountainview Drive across the street. Walk up the left side of Mountainview Drive. Look carefully to your left after the first two houses for a path leading to the high school parking lot. Bear right at parking lot toward tennis/basketball courts. Walk a bit farther across a second parking lot toward the Westwood Drive/Goodridge Drive intersection. Turn left when you get to the sidewalk of Goodridge Drive. Turn left and go downhill on the sidewalk past the two schools the Orono Public Library toward the Municipal Buildings and the village center. At the intersection of Goodridge Dr. and Main St. cross Main St. on the pedestrian crosswalk, turn left and walk back past the two traffic lights, down the hill to the ice cream cone. Have refreshments in the village center stores and restaurants.
