The Preserve is located off West Rd. in the village of West Bowdoin, which is within the town of Bowdoin. The easiest way to access the Preserve from the Lewiston-Auburn area is to follow Crowley Rd to Sabattus where is becomes Bowdoinham Rd. Follow Bowdoinham Rd until you just cross the Lisbon/Bowdoin town line and take a left onto West Rd. Follow West Rd past the Purinton Historic Home on the left and past the Purinton Preserve field on the right. You’ll pass by a wooded section on the right and soon you’ll see a sandy turn-off on the right. The trailhead starts here.
