Additional Amenities:
The Crooked Farm Preserve is the culmination of a community partnership in 2001 between the Crook family, the Carpenter’s Boatshop, the Damariscotta River Association (DRA), and the PWA, together with the financial and volunteer support of the local community. The result is nearly 130 acres of conservation land with 3 miles of trails and more than 1 mile of Pemaquid River shorefront wholly open to the public for walking, boating, hunting and fishing. This PWA preserve is co-managed with the DRA. The Crooked Farm Preserve offers a diverse mix of riverfront, wetland, open field and forest habitat, complete with high knolls and ravines. Its wetlands and gravel streambeds provide spawning habitat for game fish. Wetlands on the property provide edge habitat favored by moose, white-tailed deer, mink, raccoons, fisher, fox and otter. In addition to its wildlife and open space values, the Crooked Farm Preserve provides a canoe and kayak launch site, affording rare public access to the Pemaquid River.
